Electrical Services FAQ
Q1: What areas do you serve in Maryland and the DC Metro area? —
Baltimore, Annapolis, Prince George's, Montgomery, Charles, Anne Arundel, Howard, Harford, and the MD/DC metro area. Wherever you need a trusted electrician, call anytime — priority response for urgent issues.
Q2: Are your electricians licensed and insured? +
Yes. Principle Power Solutions is fully licensed and carries general liability, umbrella, and workers' compensation coverage.
Q3: Do you provide free estimates? +
Estimates for standard jobs are provided at no cost. Diagnostic and emergency service calls follow our standard service call policy ($150 standard / $250 emergency), with up to $150 credited toward labor if repairs are approved the same day.
Q4: What types of residential electrical services do you provide? +
Outlet and switch repair, ceiling fan and fixture installation, rewiring, panel upgrades, EV charger installs, and troubleshooting for any electrical issue in the home.
Q5: How do I know if I need an electrical panel upgrade? +
Warning signs include frequently tripped breakers, warm or discolored panel covers, flickering lights across the house, or a panel rated below 100 amps in a home with modern appliances and EV charging. A safety evaluation will confirm what's needed.
Q6: What should I do if I experience a sudden electrical outage in my home in Maryland? +
First check whether neighboring homes are also affected — if so, it's likely a utility issue and BGE or your local utility should be contacted first. If the outage is isolated to your property, call our priority emergency line.
Q7: What commercial electrical services do you offer? +
Tenant build-outs, lighting retrofits, panel and service upgrades, and ongoing maintenance contracts for property managers and business owners.
Q8: Are you available after hours and on holidays? +
Standard hours are 8 AM–9 PM, all weekdays. For urgent issues outside those hours, call — priority response, though availability may vary as a solo operator.
Q9: How fast can you respond to an emergency call? +
We aim to respond within 15 minutes during business hours, and dispatch as quickly as possible for after-hours emergencies depending on location.
Q10: What constitutes an electrical emergency? +
Sparking outlets or panels, burning smells, exposed wiring, a breaker that won't reset, or a total loss of power with no utility outage reported are all considered emergencies.
Q11: Do you offer EV charger installation for homes and businesses? +
Yes — Level 2 EV charger installation sized correctly to your electrical panel and vehicle, for both residential and commercial properties.
Q12: Is emergency service available outside business hours? +
Yes — call anytime and we'll respond as a priority. As a small operation, exact response time outside business hours can vary.
Q13: What is included in the $197 Electrical Safety Evaluation? +
A full inspection of your panel, wiring, and load capacity, with a written report identifying any hazards or code issues and recommended next steps.
Q14: Who should schedule the $197 Electrical Evaluation and is it worth it? +
Homeowners with an older panel, anyone preparing to add an EV charger or major appliance, or buyers doing due diligence before a purchase. Up to $150 of the fee is credited toward labor if you approve repairs the same day, making it effectively a low-cost inspection.
